still they drift across
sun moon in search of
kindly faces
flying south flying north
what is it
the gulls know
looking out
seems like
looking in
a gathering of terns
they must have heard
good news
this rare shell
too beautiful
to keep
old boots old hat
anchor stowed up for’ard
I’m ready
Farewell to Middle-earth at last.
I see the Star above my mast!
Maybe so. Certainly I think Slocum would approve….!
Lovely. . .
You are back!!
Simple words are so powerful. Love your thoughts Chris. Thank you.
Thanks Kitty. They just come along as I work! And Lady Bay works it magic, as you know….
just been catching up with Ann Carson, whom I’d not heard of, winner of 2026 nobel prize for literature 2026.
Watched/listened to her reading/performance (on YouTube) “lecture on the history of Sky writing”
and various others I’m going to delve into.
Anyway, your poem linked somehow to the above… I really like it.
Anne Carson – lots to explore and get excited by for me.
Greetings Ruth – thankyou for alerting me to Ann Carlson. I had not heard of her, but will certainly investigate.
Plenty of time for reflection as I shape wood….
I like your writing Chris – such a delightful mix of ‘textures’.
Thankyou Iris. I enjoyed your description: ‘mix of textures’….the words of an embroiderer….!
