‘Degraded’ is scarcely an adequate description: more like ‘scorched earth’.
The seedlings are Coastal Wattle (Acacia sophorae); ground cover to follow.

Well done Chris. I carried buckets of water to seedlings like that at Black Point in the Sixties. I was so little my arms hurt from the buckets. (I learnt then that carrying water was high energy) I hope your seedlings feel more at home.
